Farmers’ protest hit vegetable, milk supplies in Nashik

Fatehgarh Sahib : To extend support to striking farmers, Cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, Fatehgarh Sahib MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra and Bassi Pathana MLA Gurpreet Singh GP visited Patto village in the district and purchased milk and vegetables from the farmhouse of a progressive farmer, Harsharan Singh.Sidhu said by purchasing milk and vegetables from farmers, they wanted to convey that it was high time they should pay attention to the farming community and that the state government would stand by them in their hour of crisis.
Talking to mediapersons, Sidhu said farmers were upset due to anti-farmer policies, false promises made by the Modi government and steep rise in diesel and petrol prices. He advocated the fixing of Minimum Support Price (MSP) of crops as per oil prices.
“When the price of petrol was Rs 20 per litre then the price of milk was Rs 16 a litre and now the price of petrol has risen to Rs 80 whereas the price of milk stands at Rs 45 per litre,” he added.
