Heat waves prevail at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, May 31: Heat wave conditions continued at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh today with Banda area recording the maximum temperature of 46.4 degrees Celsius. According to the Met department, temperature rose appreciably in Meerut division, fell in Faizabad division and changed little in the remaining divisions over the state.It was appreciably above normal in Allahabad, Lucknow, Bareilly, Jhansi and Agra division, above normal in Varanasi, Kanpur, Moradabad and Meerut divisions and normal in the remaining divisions over the state. Highest maximum temperature of 46.4 degrees Celsius was recorded at Banda, they added.
The death toll due to the scorching heat wave conditions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has rose to over 2000. Meanwhile, authorities in Andhra Pradesh have cancelled doctors’ leave and advised people not to head outside in the middle of the day to avoid the worst of the heat.
