London, June 30: Guus Hiddink has stepped down from his role as the head coach of The Netherlands national team after just 10 months in charge.
The 68-year-old, whose contract runs until the end of Euro 2016, had begun his second stint with the team in August.Netherlands are third in their Euro qualifying group, five points behind leaders Iceland and three below the Czech Republic.Hiddink stated that he is sorry that result went this way, adding that he thought it was an honour to coach the Dutch national team again. He also said that he wishes his successor, the staff and the players every success on the way to the European Championships in France, the BBC reported.
