High Court Orders Punjab Government to Release Four Youth Arrested after Sarbat Khalsa

CHANDIGARH : Punjab & Haryana High Court has ordered the Punjab Government to release four activists of the Panthik Sewa Lehar which were arrested by the police on November 11, one day after the Sarbat Khalsa.
Namely, the High Court has ordered the government to release Bhai Taranbir Singh, Bhai Rajwinder Singh, Bhai Narinder Singh and Bhai Gurwinder Singh immediately.  These Singhs are all in their youth, who were involved with the planning of Sarbat Khalsa.  Sikh24 has learned that they have keen interest in Sikh events and hence were helping organize the event.
Following their arrest, a petition was filed against the government for their illegal arrest, alleging that they did not commit any crime by participating in the Sarbat Khalsa.
USA Based Sikh Detained Illegally After Sarbat Khalsa
Sikh24 has learned that Bhupinder Singh Cheema, a US citizen, was also detained by the Punjab Government after his participation in the Sarbat Khalsa.  S. Cheema has been detained by the Punjab Police under Indian Penal Code 107/108/51.   Bhupinder Singh Cheema was arrested from his home in his native village Kala Afgana, district Gurdaspur around 6.00 am IST on Nov 21,2015.
Bhupinder Singh a resident of Santa Clara city in California, and is a well-known community worker in the San Francisco Bay Area.   Cheema was visiting India to see his mother and family members, however, since he was already in Punjab at the time of Sarbat Khalsa, he also participated in the event.
