I’m real victim of row: Ex-AAG

Chandigarh : The man in the centre of the “audio tape scandal” today claimed he was the “real victim”. Talking to The Tribune, former Additional Advocate General Amit Chaudhary denied any knowledge that a judge was paid Rs 35 lakh bribe for dismissing the review petition of Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Khaira against his summoning in an NDPS case by a Fazilka court. “I never said it. Why would I say such a thing? And even if for a minute it is assumed I said that, how can someone make public claims without checking its veracity?” he said. “Moreover, how is it possible that a judge would take money from a client, as much as Rs 35 lakh, and give relief by cancelling arrest warrants?” he questioned.
Amit was the person talking to former PCS officer TK Goel in the audio tape released by MLA Simarjit Singh Bains to claim a conspiracy against Khaira. Amit is heard claiming that judgements are managed and in this case Rs 35 lakh was paid.
Amit said he had met Goel a number of times and this particular meeting took place on November 17 evening.
“Earlier that day, the HC had dismissed the review petition of Khaira.”
