India beat Canada to climb to third spot in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup

Ipoh (Malaysia : It was a match that saw various anxious moments, especially for India, who finally emerged out as victorious with a scoreline of 3-1 against Canada in the 25th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament here on Sunday.India, who wasted numerous chances to score, finally sealed the victory with two late goals scored by Harmanpreet Singh, who converted a penalty corner in the 41st minute and Talwinder Sing, who capitalised on a Sardar Singh cross into the circle in the 67th minute of the match.With six points from three outings, India are now third in the round-robin league standings.On top of the table are World Champions Australia with nine points from three successive wins, followed by defending champions New Zealand who have eight points from their four outings.In other fixtures Australia outplayed Pakistan 4-0, while New Zealand defeated Japan 4-1.India will next face arch-rival Pakistan, who have three points from their three outings, on Tuesday.
