India not entirely dependent on Kohli, says Kapil

New Delhi : Virat Kohli’s poor form is not a cause of concern as India’s fortunes at the upcoming Champions Trophy won’t depend solely on the Indian skipper, feels 1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev.
Kohli has not been amongst the runs in the ongoing IPL, so he will head into the Champions Trophy a tad low on confidence. Asked if his form will affect India’s chances at the prestigious ODI tournament, Kapil said: “Did you see the Test match against Australia at Dharamsala? Everybody had said that if Kohli didn’t play (well), India would lose. But we all know what happened. It is unfair to other players if we think India’s chances depend solely on him.”“Kohli is an important member of the team. He’s a big player and knows how to play and when to play,” added the 58-year-old former all-rounder. Kapil, whose wax figure was unveiled by Madame Tussauds Delhi today, said India have the ability to emerge winners but the key is how they execute their plans. “I think they are looking good. The Indian team has been playing well for the last five years but it depends on how well they apply themselves,” Kapil said.
