India ready to take on ‘dangerous’ Windies: Shastri

Mumbai : India cricket team director Ravi Shastri on Wednesday described their World Twenty20 semifinal opponent West Indies as one of the ‘dangerous’ sides in the shortest format of the game but insisted that his team are ‘up and ready’ to pack a punch to seal their place in the final. ” West Indies are probably one of the most dangerous sides in this format and have got explosive players and match winners. We know what we are up against but we are up and ready as well,” Shastri told reporters here on the eve of the second semifinal clash at the Wankhede Stadium which promises to be a battle of nerves. India have majorly relied on star batsman Virat Kohli in an otherwise misfiring batting line-up to progress to the semifinals. The hosts bounced back from a shocking opening loss against New Zealand at Nagpur to stage a spirited comeback against Pakistan, Bangladesh and Australia to reach the last-four stage.Shastri believes that India need to put up their ‘A’ game in the high-octane semifinal clash and iron out their inconsistency in the batting line-up in order to reach their third summit clash in six editions.
