Japanese PM Abe lands in Delhi, Rs 8,000-crore deal likely

New Delhi : Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrives here on a three-day visit to attend the ninth annual Indo-Japan Summit talks. He was received by Union Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha at Indira Gandhi International Airport here. Prime Minister Abe will hold delegation level talks with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Saturday. Both the leaders are also likely to sign Rs 8,000-crore deal to build a bullet train network in India. He is also scheduled to address a business leaders’ forum and will inaugurate a Japan-India Innovation Seminar. The visiting dignitary, accompanied by Prime Minister Modi, will also visit Varanasi on Saturday and attend Ganga Aarti at Dasaswamedh Ghat.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi tweeted: “India is all set to welcome its great friend & a phenomenal leader, PM @AbeShinzo. His visit will further deepen India-Japan relations.””Liked how PM @AbeShinzo describes India-Japan ties, the rich potential & cultural bond in his piece in @timesofindia,” he further tweeted.
