Jaya’s clip, ahead of bypoll, triggers row

Chennai : Setting off a controversy a day ahead of the RK Nagar bypoll, a video purportedly showing the late CM J Jayalalithaa in a hospital was released by sidelined AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran’s loyalist today.
Amid questions on the timing of the 20-second video, that went viral on the social media, election officials asked TV channels to stop its telecast. The footage, showing a frail Jaya in a nightdress, sipping a health drink with a straw, was released by Vetrivel, disqualified MLA and election agent of Dhinakaran, contesting as an Independent.
A police complaint was lodged against Vetrivel, who said he released the clip in view of doubts raised over the circumstances leading to Jaya’s death.
