Kejriwal gets bail in Mankhurd rally case

Mumbai : A Mumbai Court on Wednesday granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a case in which the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was accused of holding a rally in Mankhurd without permission during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. The Kurla Metropolitan Magistrate Court accepted the surety furnished by Kejriwal and granted him bail.
Even though the court had earlier in December exempted Kejriwal from appearing in this case, Magistrate Richa Khedekar had directed the Delhi Chief Minister to appear today for furnishing a bail bond. The Mumbai Police had in 2014 claimed that the AAP election rally held to campaign for their candidates Meera Sanyal and Medha Patkar was ‘unscheduled’ and held without prior permission.
