Khaira seeks probe in mining case; Cong against him in drugs case

Chandigarh, November 29 : AAP and Congress MLAs exchanged words during the Punjab Assembly session here on Wednesday over the issue of illegal mining in the state.
Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira waved a copy of The Tribune newspaper, highlighting the Congress’s “involvement” in illegal mining. He also demanded a discussion on the Justice Narang report.
He said the Chief Secretary’s report was still awaited, even as the Congress MLAs tried to disrupt his speech. Khaira said he wanted an inquiry into The Tribune reports on illegal mining in Punjab.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Brahm Mohindra and Local Bodies Minister Navjot Sidhu entered into an argument with Khaira. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Mohindra and Sidhu objected to Khaira’s allegations. As AAP and the treasury benches entered into a slanging match, Akali-BJP MLAs sat quiet.
