Khattar meets Nitin Gadkari, wants SYL canal to be constructed soon

New Delhi, September 6 : Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar on Wednesday met Union Minister for Water Resources Nitin Gadkari and urged his ministry to intervene for the expeditious construction of the SYL canal.
A battery of BJP leaders from the state, including his cabinet colleagues Capt Abhimanyu, OP Dhankar, Anil Vij, state party president Subhash Barala, Union Minister Birender Singh and MP Dharamvir, were also present. Emerging from the meeting, Khattar said he had apprised Gadkari of the fact that the SYL was a lifeline for the state which is parched. The farming businesss had taken a hit on account of shortage of water, he added.He said Gadkari had assured them of positive consideration in the matter. In response to a question that Punjab had opposed construction of the project and had refused to share its river waters with Haryana, Khattar said, “First, let the SYL canal be constructed. The issue of sharing of waters can be taken up later.” Every state should get its just share, he added.
