Langah moves HC for anticipatory bail

Chandigarh : Claiming the rape case against him was a result of “vendetta” triggered by his opponents in a “desperate attempt” to win the October 11 Gurdaspur byelection, Punjab’s former Akali minister Sucha Singh Langah today moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking anticipatory bail for 72 hours. Accusing Congress MLA Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa of hatching a conspiracy to implicate him, Langah appealed that anticipatory or transit anticipatory bail would enable him to surrender before the magistrate in Gurdaspur and save him from possible third-degree torture. The plea came five days after an FIR for rape and other offences was registered under Sections 376, 384, 420 and 506 of the IPC at the Gurdaspur (city) police station.
