Mann warns Sukhbir Badal of serious law and order problem in Punjab

FATEHGARH SAHIB: Simranjit Singh Mann President Shiromani Akali Dal(Amritsar) in a letter writen to Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal who also holds home portfolio, has warned of serious law and order consequences in Punjab if he continued the policy of using brutal force and revenge against Sikhs.
In the letter dated June 18, 2015 and released to press today, Mann told Sukhbir Badal that his party is of the opinion that as a home minister you had lost control over police and jail administration. “The police has gone berserk and is as wild and rudderless as in the time of Chief Minister Beant Singh and previous DGP’s Robero and K.P.S Gill”, he stated.Mann said When he was an IPS officer, he had warned the Central and Punjab government that a serious law and order situation was arising out of brutal force being used by Darbara Singh the then Chief Minister and Indira Gandhi. But these leaders were of the thought that the Sikh’s were clay pigeous and would be brought to heel through force and revenge.”You may call for my complete correspondence as an IPS officer from 1982 to 1984 from your Home department to ascertain what I have written to the then government. You were a child then and I suppose you as the Home Minister don’t realise that such a situation again will arise if you don’t pull up your socks and control the police and Jail administration. Sikh’s have never in their history tolerated tyrants and cowards. It is good to go abroad and travel to Delhi by air every evening but I will ask you to look into these atrocities and administer the state through the principles of natural justice and the rule of law and does not allow the state to slip into anarchy and misrule”, he wrote.Citing a recent incident of police misbehaviour, Mann saod that on 21st May 2015 the Fatehgarh Sahib police under SP Daljit Singh, Dy SP Jagjit Singh Jalla and SDM Pooja Sayal Grewal entered in my farmland without cautioning as per law and principles of natural justice committing the criminal act under section 452 IPC and resorted to a ruthless lathicharge, injuring our party men badly.On 17th June 2015 the same Dy SP Jagjit Singh Jalla used foul and un-parliamentary language against protesting farmers at Village Rurki on Sirhind-Patiala road. Fortunately, the farmers held their patience otherwise a serious law and order situation would have broken out.
He further wrote that on 16th June 2015 the police of Amritsar and Taran Taran had killed Mukhjit Singh Verka your own party man of the Badal Dal in a wild shooting spree.
Mann told Sukhbir Badal that his (Sukhbir’s) father Parkash Singh Badal would bare with me that the administration of Punjab is not child’s play.
He stated that he was in hospital now but let me tell you that none of us have lost our vigour and determination to oppose despotism and misrule under you or your police force aided by central police forces and others and fanatics of the right wing the B.J.P. and R.S.S. We will oppose the ruthless, despotic and tyrannical rule, democratically and peacefully.Mann concluded, “I do hope and wish good sense would prevail and you and your father will look into the growing discontent of your arbitrary and lawless misrule”.
