Maoists set railway station on fire in Jharkhand

Ranchi, May 26 : Armed Maoists on Thursday night set the Dumbri Bihar railway station in Bokaro district of Jharkhand on fire, while leaving pamphlets at the station.
Around 50 Maoists allegedly attacked the station, and set it on fire reducing goods to ashes. They also set the engine of a goods train ablaze. Railway officials are yet to reach the spot to estimate the damage.
Soon after the incident, security officials started the combing operation in the district to trace the Maoists.
Maoists claimed in the pamphlet that they had been protesting against the amendment in the CNT-SPT Act and had called a state-wide strike in Jharkhand on May 29.
Bokaro Superintendent of Police (Railway) Ashim Vikrant Minz said, “Maoists on Thursday night attacked Dumri Bihar railway station and set it on fire reducing the goods to ashes. They also looted a walkie-talkie from the rail driver, co-driver and guard. After the incident, the Barkakana-Gomo rail route was blocked that is yet to resume functioning.”
