FARIDKOT, Punjab—Months after the shooting in Bargari, the commission appointed to probe the incident is still to name the guilty police officers. However, in order to keep the victim families at ease, the Punjab Government has announced Government jobs for kin of both families. In October 2015, Bhai Krishan Bhagwan Singh and Bhai Gurjit Singh were martyred when the Punjab Police opened fire on peacefully protesting Sikhs. The appointment letters were handed over to the kin of the victims by the Faridkot Deputy Commissioner in the presence of the local Akali Dal MLA Mantar Singh. Prabhdeep Singh (son of Shaheed Bhai Krishan Bhagwan Singh of village Niamiwala) and Jagdeep Singh (elder brother of Shaheed Bhai Gurjit Singh of village Sarawan) have been appointed as Senior Laboratory Attendants in the office of District Education Officer. It may be recalled that while visiting the families of Shaheed Bhai Krishan Bhagwan Singh and Shaheed Bhai Gurjit Singh, Sukhbir Badal had announced to facilitate government jobs to deceased families. He had also promised thorough investigations, promising swift action against the guilty.
