Naidu among front runners for Vice-President’s post

NEW DELHI : The NDA will on Monday announce its Vice-President candidate.
Union Minister and former party chief M Venkaiah Naidu is among the front runners for the post.  The BJP Parliamentary Board will decide on the pick after the voting for the nation’s 14th President is over. The BJP, for the Vice-President, has taken its time, showing absolutely no urgency to beat the Opposition at the game.Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson Gopalkrishna Gandhi is the Opposition candidate for the August 5 Vice-Presidential election.Congress chief Sonia Gandhi announced his name after a gathering consisting of 18 opposition parties unanimously endorsed Gandhi’s name for the post.TMC leader Derek O’Brien proposed the name of Gandhi and CPM leader Sitaram Yechury seconded it.
