National Rabi conference to review performance of agriculture sector

New Delhi, Sept. 19 : The Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare (DAC and FW) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare will organise a national conference on September 22 and 23 to review performance of the preceding season and to prepare strategies for the coming season.
The conference on Rabi campaign is being organised to review the production performance of Kharif-2015 season, formulate strategies for crop production for ensuing Rabi 2015-16 season, take stock of inputs to ensure timely supply and to create awareness of new technologies and innovations in crop production and allied sectors.The programmed has identified six emerging topics for detailed group discussions amongst participating states under the guidance of DAC and FW.The topics included Promoting pulses and oilseeds in rice fallows; Promoting organic farming through Paramparagat Krishi Yojana (PKVY); Enhancing area under irrigation and achieving water use efficiency through Pardhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana (PMKSY); Creating a nationally integrated market through National Agricultural Market; Agrarian crisis and agricultural crisis – Issues and solutions; and Promotion Of Horticulture in the country.The conference will be inaugurated by the Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Radha Mohan Singh while Ministers of State, Sanjeev Kumar Balyan and MK Kundariya will grace the occasion.They will address the administrators, technocrats, agricultural scientists, representatives of various central departments and autonomous bodies.
