Nepal: Black market brewing amid fuel shortage

Kathmandu : Amid the shortage of essential supplies in the country, petroleum products are being sold in the black market in various areas of Rupandehi district in Nepal. According to The Himalayan Times, youth belonging to villages bordering India are travelling to the neighbouring country to buy petroleum products and then sell it a much higher price.They are selling it from Rs 210 to Rs 350 per litre of petrol which is to be sold for Rs 105 on average.The fuel shortage has also encouraged selling of adulteration of Petroleum products.The black market of petroleum products is prevalent in Belahiya, Bhairahawa Bus Park, Bangai, Marchwar and Lumbini of the Rupandehi district.The District Administration Office has assured that stringent actions will be taken against those involved in the illegal act.
