CHANDIGARH : Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh today said that no promise of giving post of Deputy Chief Minister was made with former BJP leader Navjot Singh Sidhu who is likely to join Congress on January 9.
In a TV interview Capt Amarinder Singh said that it was always prerogative of party high command to decide who will be Chief Minister ad who will be Deputy Chief Minister. he said that as far as he knew no such promise was made with Sidhu. Replying to his past comments against Sidhu, the PPCC president said that sarcastic remarks made against each are of no meaning. He said that he know Sidhu from childhood and he is welcome in the Congress. Sidhu who had resigned from Rajya Sabha and BJP had earlier formed a Punjab front with Bains brothers and SAD MLA Pargat Singh. He negotiated with AAP before coming to Congress fold. AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal said that Sidhu was demanding post of Chief Minister which they refused.Kejriwal said that they were ready to give him Deputy CM’s post and he deserted them for want of CM’s post.
