Chandigarh, March 12 : Punjab Chief Minister-elect Captain Amarinder Singh said on Sunday that his government’s priorities would be education and health sectors.
A day after the Congress recorded a resounding victory in Punjab Assembly elections with 77 of 117 seats, Singh, while addressing the media here, said that his government would tackle drug menace but there would be “no victimisation”.
When asked about allegations against SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia, he said: “No vendetta politics. No victimisation. If the name comes in investigation, we’ll see”.
The statement comes days after Singh said his government would root out the problem within four weeks of taking over the government. He also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to all the assistance the state needed when the two spoke after the results. Singh will leave for Delhi on March 14 for a meeting with Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to shortlist names for his Cabinet.
