No yoga, Simranjit Mann bats for gatka

Jalandhar : Claiming that yoga is against the basic principles of the Sikhism, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) chief Simranjit Singh Mann urged the Sikh community to observe Gatka (Sikh martial art) Diwas on June 21.
Addressing mediapersons here today, he said none of the 10 Sikh gurus preached yoga. “Gatka is a Sikh tradition that keeps one fit and being a border state, people of Punjab must learn and practice Gatka.
He said that he would write to all the deras in Punjab to observe June 21 as a Gatka Diwas.Taking a notice of the shoot at site order issued at the Air Force Station in Pathankot a couple days back, Mann said that those order were unconstitutional as every citizen has right to roam freely. As per the constitution, one has to be tried in the court of law before killing.He alleged that the government basically wants to target the Muslim Gujjar living in the surroundings of the Air Force Station in Pathankot by issuing such orders.
