NRIs protest against Capt Amarinder in California, hurl shoes at him

Chandigarh : Punjab Congress President Capt Amarinder Singh had eneded his USA tour of meeting with NRIs in a huff and forced to leave the venue by protesting NRI’s who hurled shoes at him. He was whisked out of venue in a cordon formed by police and local organoisers of meet.
Earlier Sikhs for Justice an NGO working in North America had forced Capt Amarinder Singh to cancel his Canada visit where a complaint was filed against him for defending Jagdish Tytler, a congress leaders allegedly involved in anti-Sikh riots in Delhi in 1984.
The incident happened during Capt Amarinder’s May 3 California gathering where NRIs were invited to listen the views of Capt Amarinder Singh who is visiting US to garner support for his party in the 2017 Punjab assembly elections.
The NRIs got provoked when supporters of Capt Amarinder attacked a 1984 Sikh Genocide victim who asked a question about Amarinder’s stand on Jagdish Tytler. It resulted in clash between organizers of the event and Sikh NRIs who had laid siege to the Conference venue.
As Former Chief Minister was about to leave the venue under tight security, Sikh Separatist started raising “Khalistan Zindabad” slogans and was chased who also threw shoes and bottles at fleeing Capt Amarinder Singh.
The Sikh genocide victim Mohinder Singh wanted to question Capt for making statement that “Tytler has no role in killing of Sikhs in Delhi”. He was allegeldy attached by the supporters of Capt. Amarinder singh. A report in a media said that some henchmen accompanied Capt Amarinder Singh from Punjab for his protection. They indulged in clash with the man asking question.
While confirming the clash gurpatwant Singh Pannun, Attorney Sikh for justice said, “Its unfortunate that instead of answering questions regarding his statement about Tytler role in 1984 Capt Amarinder took support of his henchmen and created an atmosphere of fear.
