NSA talks: India should pay heed towards Kashmir issue, says Mirwaiz Umar Farooq

New Delhi, August 20 : Moderate Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed disappointment over Centre’s disapproval to bring separatists on the board before the bilateral meeting between the National Security Advisors (NSA) of India and Pakistan. Mirwaiz urged the New Delhi government to pay heed towards the Kashmir conflict, and find a political solution to resolve it.“Indian government should understand that Kashmir issue needs to be resolved sooner than later. Solutions should be discussed across the table rather,” said Mirwaiz. “If we are prevented from meeting the Pakistani National Security Advisor, then it is a negative message shown to Kashmir,” he added.According to Mirwaiz, both India and Pakistan should amend their ties. “We want dialogue process between two countries, India-Pakistan should move forward. Hurriyat is not opposing this,” he reiterated. The leaders of both the factions of Hurriyat, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq along with other renowned speratist leaders including Yasin Malik and Naeem Khan were put on house arrest following the invitation sent to them by Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. However, on Thursday, government relaxed its orders, except for hardline separatist Geelani who is yet kept under vigil within his apartment.
