President Kovind awards standards to 2 IAF units at Adampur

Adampur, November 16 : President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday awarded standards to two units of Indian Air Force, viz 223 Squadron (Tridents) and 117 Helicopter unit (Himalyan Dragon) for having a history of excellence.
In his address, the President recalled the glorious legacy of the Indian Armed forces in protecting the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country. He said that every citizen had a sound sleep back home because they were aware that valiant soldiers were safeguarding the borders of the country. Kovind said he was fortunate to be in Punjab, which was the land of Sainiks (soldiers) and saints. Earlier, the President took salute from an impressive march past. He awarded the standards to the officers of both the units. Aerial show by the Indian Air Force regaled the audience.
The President also released an information brochure of both the units.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore, Irrigation and Power Minister Rana Gurjit Singh, MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh, former MLA Rajbhans Kaur Rana, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, Commissioner Jalandhar Raj Kamal Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, Inspector General of Police Arpit Shukla, Deputy Inspector General of Police Jaskaran Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Superintendent of Police Rajinder Singh Cheema.
