Private force deployed by SAD to counter public protest is unconstitutional

CHANDIGARH: Private army deployed by ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to counter agitation against Moga incident in which a minor girl was molested and killed has once again brought he conduct of Badal family under scanner. According to reports in section of media, the SAD had deployed about 50 musclemen beside heavy contingent of Police to counter the protest by political activists from opposition parties against Orbit buses on Tuesday.
This is first time in the history of Punjab that a political party, ruling in the state, had taken the help of its private army to crush the publi protest. This gives wind to the allegations that a strong mafia is spreading its roots in the state and powers of police have been curtailed. The report as it appeared in the Tribune, the SAD had deployed a ‘defensive force’ comprising party activists at Rampura Phul in Bathinda districrt to counter the state wide protest by ‘Orbit Bus Kand Virodhi Action Committee’. The protestors took out a march to burn the effigy of deputy Chief Minister and gherao the residence of Rural Development minsiter Sikandar Singh Maluka. Heavy police force was deployed at Maluka and Kothaguru villages and it was supplemented by private force led by Gurpeet Singh Maluka son of Sikandar Singh Maluka.
Sikandar Singh Maluka was earlier cauught on camera beating up unempoloyed teachers who had gone to protestr at his village Maluka. The video which went viral on social media also shown Maluka pushing a female teacher and his accomplices thrashing the protesting teachers.
The trend of forming private force to counter the public agitaion is very disturning trednd and it is the duty of all political parties to oppose it. Otherwise Punjab would not be deifferent that Bihar where private armies command the police and public order. The people in Bihar are forced to live under fear of private armies and mafias are ruling the state. Punjab has already witnessed the mafia culture in sand mining, real estate, transport, liquor trade and parking slots. Unfortunately the leaders of both the SAD and Congress are involved in money making schemes and have monopolise almost all the trades. There seems little chance of escape from such a situation but only hope before people is their right to vote every five years. The political parties if given a chance would for sure snatch this right from people of the country.
In Punjab BJP is alliance partner of SAD but unfortrunately BJP has clsoed its eyes and ears and left the people of Punjab at the mercy of powers that be.
