Prominent Sikh Organizations Condemn Sacking of Punj Piare by the SGPC

AMRITSAR SAHIB—A number of Sikh organizations have strongly reacted over the dismissal of the ‘Panj Piare’ by the SGPC executive members. Dal Khalsa, Akali Dal Panch Pardhani, All India Sikh Student Federation are among the organizations that have condemning the SGPC.
In a joint statement shared with Sikh24, Dl Khalsa’s spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh and Panch Pardhani spokesperson Harpal Singh Cheema have alleged that the the dismissal of the Punj Piare has come on behest of the Akali Dal Badal. They alleged that Akalis were satisfying their egos by interfering in the matters of the Sikh Nation. The duo stated that the whole Sikh Panth was standing with the Punj Piare and fully supported the decree of sacking Takht Jathedars as they were responsible for granting pardon to Gurmeet Ram Rahim. They added that the dismissal of the Punj Piare was unprecedented in Sikh history. AISSF President Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad has also strongly condemned the SGPC’s move of suspending ‘Panj Piare’ from their services. He said that dismissal of Tkhat Jathedars was the need of the hour but the SGPC executives committed a sin by challenging the highest institution of the ‘Panj Piare’. He said that Takht Jathedars should immediately resign from their posts.
