Punjab crackdown on Sikh radical leaders begins, Kanwarpal, Gurdip arrested

Chandigarh : The Punjab police today morning arrested Dal Khalsa leader Kanwarpal Singh, party leader Daljit Singh Bittu and United Akali Dal general secretary Gurdip Singh.The crackdown has been launched following the deadlock between the Badal government and the radicals on the isdsue of observing Operation Bluestar anniversary at Akal Takht on June 6.It may be mentioned that Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had assured the five member committee that met him at Badal village to get back after discussing the proposals with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal later in the night.
