CHANDIGARH : Punjab Government has quitely hiked bus fares from 5 to 10 paise per kilometer for different categories and also raised the minimum fare from Rs.5 to Rs.10. The revised fares were implemented from midnight of April1, 2016.The state government has decided to revise the bus fares every three months. The government has taken the plea that rates are revised due to hike in diesel rates even as the rates of disel have come down in the past.According to government notification, the fare for ordinary buses has been raised from Paisa 87 per kilometer to 92 per kilometer, for HVC ordinary AC buses the fare has been revised from Rs.1.04 paise to Rs.1.10 per kilometer. For delux buses fare has been revised from existing Rs.1.56 to Rs.1.65 per kilometer. For super delux buses mostly owned by Badal family, the bus fares have been hiked from Rs.1.74 per kilometer to Rs.1.84 paise. Superdelux buses would now charge Rs.197 from Ludhiana to Sector 63 Chandigarh with a hike of Rs.10. For ordinary buses the revised fare between Ludhiana and Chandigarh will be Rs.98 instead of Rs.93 earlier. For HVC buses the revised fare is Rs.177 against Rs.168 earlier.
