Punjab handicapped unemployeds demand to fill job quota, threaten fast unto death

CHANDIGARH : The chain hunger strike by unemployed handicapped persons of Punjab today entered in the 19th day. They are demanding to post of handicapped quota lying vacant in Municipal Corporations of Amritsar, Ludhiana and Jalandhar. They alleged illegal recruitment against posts meant for handicapped.The handicapped unemployed union said that Vikas Partap Principal Secretary of Local self government had sought time of one week to fulfill the commitment made by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. They siad that bureacracy was not implementing the orders of Chief Minister. They said that illegal recruitment has been made against 3 percent quota reserved for handicappeds. He said that 270 posts belong to them.The Union has threatened to convert their ongoing hunger strike into fast unto death if their demands are not met. They said that they would sit on fast unto death in front of CM residence.
