Punjab to pay compensation on the same day in farmers’ suicide cases

CHANDIGARH: In a bid to mitigate the unbearable pain and to share the grief of the families of the farmers who commit suicide, the Punjab Government has decided to make the compensation to the farmer’s families on the same day.Disclosing this, an official spokesperson of Punjab Government said Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal Chief Secretary Punjab has issued written instructions to the Deputy Commissioners on the directions of Mr. Parkash Singh Badal Chief Minister Punjab. As per the instructions, in case of any unfortunate incident of farmer’s suicide, the Deputy Commissioner concerned would immediately determine the eligibility of family members to whom disbursement of compensation could be made. There after the disbursement of compensation would be ensured on the same day. The Deputy Commissioner would take ex-facto approval from competent authority for the same later on.
