Raja, Kanimozhi and others acquitted in 2G scam cases

New Delhi, December 21 : A CBI Special Court on Thursday acquitted former telecom minister A Raja, DMK leader Kanimozhi and 16 other accused in the 2G scam case, saying the prosecution miserably failed to prove the charges against them.Special Judge OP Saini also acquitted all three companies allegedly involved in the case that politically damaged the UPA government led by Manmohan Singh. Those acquitted also included accused Shahid Balwa and Essar top executives Ravikant Ruia and Anshuman Ruia.“It sounded like music to my ears,” said advocate Vijay Agrawal who represented Balwa in the case about the verdict.After the acquittal verdict, supporters of accused were seek waving placards of ‘Satyameva Jayate’ and bursting crackers outside the Patiala House Courts in the National Capital. Raja was accused of criminal conspiracy and corruption along with certain bureaucrats and telecom companies in the grant of 122 2G spectrum licences which were cancelled by the Supreme Court on February 2, 2012.
