PATIALA: Former Sikh militant Balwant Singh Rajoana who is awaiting gallows and lodged in Patiala jail today thrashed Kanwar Sandhu a veteran journalist and former Editor of Hindustan Times inside the jail while the latter reportedly during an interview with him asked some embarrassing question.
Conducting interview in jail has become yet another controversy. Taking note of the development, Punjab Government today placed the Deputy Superintendent of Jail under suspension. As per jail manual no interviews are allowed with convicts inside the jail.Kanwar Sandhu who is working for a foreign Punjabi TV channel had ‘managed’ the interview with former Sikh terrorist through former police official and ‘cat’ Gurmeet Singh Pinki and brother-in-law of Rajoana. It is reported that Pinki was accompanying Kanwar Sandhu though he kept himself away from Rajoana. Pinki had recently given an interview to Kanwar Sandhu revealing details of hundereds of fake encounters of Sikh yoouth done by Punjab Police under the command of former DGP KPS Gill and and officers like DGP Sumedh Singh Saini.Pinki had also alleged that KPS Gill himself tortured human rights activist and ordered to kill him. In another interview Pinki had alleged that he had paid Rs.50 lakhs to Sumedh Singh Saini to get reinstated in Punjab police after he was convicted in a murder case and dismissed from service. It remained a mystery that why Pinki was accompanying Kanwar Sandhu and who was behind arrranging interview with Rajoana inside the jail.
