Rakitic’s own goal gives Valencia 2-1 win over Barca in La Liga

London : Midfielder Ivan Rakitic struck a goal in his own net as Barcelona suffered their third consecutive defeat at the hands of Valencia, with a scoreline of 1-2, in their La Liga clash at Camp Nou on Monday.
It was in the 26th minute of the match when Rakitic smashed an own goal to give the visitors a lead before Valencia forward Lorenzo Santi Mina doubled the score in the half-time, the Guardian reported.
Barcelona star striker Lionel Messi tried to provide some resistance by scoring a goal, which was his 500th career goal, in the 63rd minute of the match, but that was not enough to claim the victory. Despite the defeat, Barcelona are currently standing at the top of the table, with 24 wins from 33 games they have played.They will next lock horns with Deportivo on Wednesday.
