Rallies augur trouble for Khattar

Chandigarh : The parallel rallies by BJP MP Raj Kumar Saini and All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti chief Yashpal Malik today may have passed off peacefully, but it’s certainly not the end of trouble for the Haryana Government.
Declaring his keenness to float a political outfit in Haryana, Saini did not hesitate projecting himself as the future Chief Minister at the “Samanta Maha Sammelan” in Jind. On the other hand, Malik got the “support” of Union Minister Birender Singh of the BJP and Abhay Chautala of the INLD. The two leaders pledged their support to the Jat reservation cause.
Malik warned the Manohar Lal Khattar government to meet the Jats’ demands or face another agitation. While the Congress chose to stay away from Malik’s function, the INLD announced Rs 1 crore for the skill development centre, clearly to woo the Jat community. Both rallies were held amid heavy deployment of police in Rohtak, Jind and Kaithal districts and along routes taken by the protesters. Against 25 companies of forces sought by the state government, the Centre sent only three. These were deployed at sensitive sites. Senior officers monitored the situation on the ground.
