Rise of lynch mobs linked to ruling party, says Sonia at CWC meet

New Delhi, June 6 : Accusing the BJP of whipping up divisive issues and attempting to control food habits of people, Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday said lynch mobs with close ideological affinity to the ruling establishment were rising in India.
Obliquely referring to the ongoing debate around the new government rules banning sale of cattle for slaughter in animal markets, Sonia said that after three years of Modi government rule there is discord where earlier there was harmony.“Where there was harmony there’s discord, where there was tolerance there’s provocation. Where there was relative call in J&K there is growing confrontation, tension and fear. Where there was economic potential there’s stagnation. Where there was rich diversity there’s a brazen campaign to straitjacket the whole country into a regressive world view,” Gandhi said in her opening remarks at the meeting of Congress Working Committee which blamed the Centre’s demonetisation drive for recent GDP growth fall and slammed it for “politics of alienation” in the Valley.Gandhi spoke of how former PM Manmohan Singh’s prediction on economic slowdown due to note ban had come true. She also dared the government to disclose how much demonetised currency returned to the banks.
