New Delhi : The Supreme Court today refused to transfer Pradyuman murder case from Gurugram to Delhi after the Gurgaon Bar Association withdrew its resolution asking lawyers not to represent any accused in the case. Acting on a petition filed by northern zone head of Ryan Group Francis Thomas—an accused in the case-a Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, however, asked the Gurugram Bar to ensure that lawyers representing the accused and their family members were not prevented from attending court proceedings. The order came after senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi and advocate Sandeep Kapoor told the Bench on behalf of Francis Thomas that following the resolution passed by the local Bar, his wife had to move a bail plea on his behalf. They said even after withdrawal of the resolution, the atmosphere in Gurugram was hostile and not conducive to holding a fair trial. The Bench, however, decided against shifting the case to Delhi after advocate RK Yadav of the Bar informed it that the said resolution had since been withdrawn and local lawyers would not obstruct any advocate representing any accused in the case.
