SAD-BJP government responsible for atrocities on dalits in Punjab: Kejriwal

ROPAR : Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener ARVIND kEJRIWAL today accused the SAD-BJP government in Punjab for continuing atrocities on dalits and not delivering justice to the victims.He was addressing a public meeting at village Prithipur Bunga, 25 kms from,here, the birthplace of BSP founder Kanshi Ram on his 82nd birthday. Kejriwal when reached at the memorial of Kanshi Ram in the village, was accorded warm welcome by Swaran Kaur sister of Kanshi Ram and other family members besides large number of AAP supporters. Kejriwal paid tributes to Kanshi Ram by garlanding his statute. He was presented a ‘Siropa’ ( ward of honour) by the Kanshi Ram Charitable Foundation headed by sister of BSP founder.Addressing the function Kejriwal said that when voted to power the AAP government would fulfill dream of Kanshi Ram which he had seen for the dalit community. He demanded Bharat Ratna for Kanshi Ram whom he described a great visionary and only leader of Dalit Samaj after Dr. B.R.Ambedkar. He said that atrocities on dalits were serious matter. He said that he was stunned to know about the incident of severing limbs of a dalit youth in Abohar and the police failed to arrest real culprit who is close to ruling SAD. There are incidents of raping and burning dalit women. He said that youth who are forming clubs in the name of Dr. B.R.Ambnedkar are being harassed. He also aid that if Akalis are committing atrocities on dalits in Punjab, BJP is doing it in other states. He said that two central ministers were involved in the suicide of Hyderabad dalit studentRohith Vemula but no action was taken against them.
