Sammy flays West Indies Cricket Board post World T20 triumph

Kolkata : West Indies captain Darren Sammy has criticised his country’s cricket board after the Caribbean side became the first side to lift the World Twenty20 title twice following a thrilling four-wicket win over England at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
“We had lots of issues, people wondered whether we would play this tournament,” said an emotional Sammy after his side pulled off a sensational chase with two balls to spare in the final.”We felt disrespected by our board. Mark Nicholas (the English commentator) described us as a team with no brains. All these things before the tournament just brought this team together.”I really want to thank these 15 men, the ability to just put all those adversities aside and to come out and play this type of cricket in front of such passionate fans, it’s just tremendous,” Sammy added.Veteran batsman Marlon Samuels made a scintillating 85 not out and Carlos Brathwaite (34 not out) smacked four successive sixes in the last over to seal the deal for the Windies.Sammy, who also guided West Indies to the World T20 glory in 2012, thanked the coaching staff and their new manager for their support.
Earlier, the Caribbean players were locked in a pay cut dispute with their country’s cricket board, which threw their participation in jeopardy prior to the World T20.
“I’m yet to hear from our own cricket board. That is very disappointing,” he added.
