‘Scapegoat’ Warne brands Waugh as ‘the most selfish player’

Johannesburg : Australian spin great Shane Warne, who seems to have an unending quarrel with former skipper Steve Waugh, slammed the latter and said that he was `the most selfish player` he has ever played with. The feud goes all the way back to the Australia’s 1999 tour of the West Indies when Waugh played a part in Warne’s axing.Recalling the days, the 46-year-old said he did not like the way in which Waugh told him that he was dropped for the last Test match between the two sides,Sport24 reported.
Warne, who admitted that he did not like Waugh for many other reasons, insisted that he felt he was the scapegoat for his side’s loss.Earlier, Waugh admitted that the decision cost him his friendship, but added that he gained fortitude from the experience categorically.Australia later on went to level the four-match series against West Indies 2-2 after claiming a massive 312-run win in the final Test.
