SGPC Bars ‘SARBJIT’ Movie From Filming In Darbar Sahib Amritsar

AMRITSAR SAHIB : SGPC authorities yesterday barred the production team of the upcoming movie SARBJIT from shooting scenes inside the complex of Harmandir Sahib. Sarbjit was an undercover agent of the notorious Indian intelligence Agency RAW (Research and Analysis Wing), who was responsible for bomb blasts in Pakistan. Sarbjit was sentenced with capital punishment by a court in Pakistan but the Indian government made every effort to have him brought back back to India. However, amidst the rising publicity about his detention in Pakistan, Sarbjit was burnt alive in jail. Yesterday when the production team of movie placed its equipment inside Sri Harmandir Sahib to shoot a scene of movie, SGPC employees deployed there asked them for proof of permission from higher SGPC authorities. The production team claimed to have sanctioned permission but when the SGPC authorities checked, they found norecord of their claims. Following this, arguments between two sides occurred for a short time and finally the production team had to return back without completing their scene.Bollywood actress Aishwarya Bachan is playing role of Dalbir Kaur (sister of Sarbjit), while Ranbir Huda is playing the role of Sarbjit in the movie.On being contacted by Sikh24’s correspondents, additional Secretary of SGPC Diljeet Singh Bedi said that the production team didn’t get permission from the authorities and they staff had to interrupt the filming, keeping in mind the potential disturbance suffered by visiting congregations.
