Shooter Sanjeev Rajput wins silver in Baku World Cup

Baku, Azerbaijan : Two time Olympian Sanjeev Rajput clinched the silver medal in the men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event after posting a score of 456.9 in the finals of the International Shooting Sport Federation ( ISSF) World Cup (Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun) here on Tuesday.The 35-year-old finished behind Croatia’s Peter Gorsa, who shot 457.5 to win the gold medal. Hyeonjun Kim of South Korea had to settle for bronze with a score of 445.5.This was Rajput’s third World Cup medal, having won silver in the 10m Air Rifle event in Sydney in 2010 and then gold in Changwon a year later.However, Rajput will not be going to Rio despite winning the Olympic quota earlier this year. He was replaced by Trap veteran Manavjit Singh Sandhu when the team for Rio was picked in March.
