Chandigarh : Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu who, along with former hockey player Pargat Singh and the Bains brothers, had recently floated the front, Awaaz-e-Punjab, on Wednesday resigned from the BJP.The four-time Amritsar MP, who had recently resigned from the Rajya Sabha, submitted his resignation to party president Amit Shah in the Delhi BJP office in the afternoon.
This was informed by his wife and BJP MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu on the sidelines of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha session here. The Chief Parliamentary Secretary and Amritsar East MLA clarified that she was still with the BJP and would contest elections from any party but the SAD. She said she would join the fourth front only if it took shape and she was convinced of it, adding that she would take a decision at the right time.
