Sikh radical groups differ over Khalistan

Amritsar : The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD, Amritsar) and the United Akal Dal (UAD) – the main organisers of the radicals’ ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ last year – are apparently not on the same page over the creation of a sovereign state for the Sikhs. While SAD (Amritsar) chief Simranjit Singh Mann is firm on establishing Khalistan, UAD chief Bhai Mohkam Singh endorses an independent state as per the provisions of the Constitution.
UAD secretary general Gurdeep Singh Bathinda said today that though there were differences over Khalistan, both groups were on one platform for the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ and related Sikh issues.
