DERA BASSI(MOHALI) : Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today announced that once his party forms the government a Special Task Force will be set up within 100 days for redressing public grievances. The Task Force will be given a deadline within which the public grievances will have to be resolved. The Task Force will work under direct control of the Chief Minister.
Announcing this here today while interacting with the people of Dera Bassi assembly segment under ‘Halqe Vich Captain’ programme, Capt Amarinder said, all the problems being submitted to him will be recorded and documented. The Special Task force in the government will follow each individual case and take it to the logical conclusion to the satisfaction of the complainant, he said amidst thundering applause from the crowd.
Later talking to reporters, the PCC president clarified that his interactive programme with people was quite different from the Sangat Darshan programme of the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. He said, despite Mr Badal having the state machinery at his disposal, his Sangat Darshan programmes were a complete failure. “Had the Chief Minister’s Sangat Darshan programmes been successful people would not have thronged to his meetings with their problems and complaints”, he observed. Most of the complaints and the problems raised during the interactive session related to registration of false cases, lack of basic amenities, high handedness of the Akalis towards the Congressmen and lack of basic amenities like the drinking water, drainage system and roads. The issues of unemployment and prevalence of drug addiction were also raised by the people. Capt Amarinder reiterated that all the FIRs registered against the Congress workers will be cancelled immediately. “I am under oath to do it immediately after taking over”, he announced, adding, “not only will the false FIRs be cancelled but those responsible for these, whether the Akalis or the police personnel will be booked for victimizing and persecuting innocent people”. The PCC president reiterated that he will finish the drug problem within four weeks. “When I pledged under oath of Gutka Sahab to finish the problem within four weeks, I made the promise with full responsibility and I am repeating and reiterating it again that I will do it before four weeks”, he asserted while replying to a question as how he can finish the drug problem within four weeks. However, while refusing to reveal the exact strategy, he said, everybody knows as who were the people responsible for this problem and his government will catch hold of them right away.
Replying to a question about the state government’s reported move to subject students of various educational institutions to dope tests, the PCC President said, “on the one hand the state government is denying the existence of the problem and on the other hand it is mooting dope test for students”. He suggested that the state government must first acknowledge the existence of the problem before seeking solutions.
