Thousands of tourists stranded all night on Manali highway

Sundernagar : Owing to a traffic jam that lasted for around 12 hours at Jarol near Sundernagar, thousands of tourists were stranded on the Chandigarh-Manali highway the entire Friday night.
The situation was so alarming that long queues of vehicles could be seen up to kilometers from Jarol, the place where heavy machinery developed a defect leading to traffic jam. A number of tourists were forced to spend the night in the vehicles.
According to information, heavy machinery developed a snag at Jarol where the road was narrow so the traffic was blocked on Friday evening and it took more than 12 hours to clear the road for traffic.
According to the SDM, the traffic was blocked after a truck broke down at Jarol, but they allowed one-way traffic; the road has been cleared for traffic now.
