Torn pages of Geeta, Ramayana found scattered in Ludhiana

Ludhiana : In yet another incident of sacrilege, torn pages of the Geeta and Ramayana were found scattered in Deep Nagar and Chander Nagar of Ludhiana on Monday. Residents found the pages while they were holding a ‘prabhat pheri’ in the early hours. They immediately informed the police. Later, senior police officers along with local residents gathered at the spot.The police were looking for CCTV footage to identify the miscreants.According to the SHO, Division No. 4, Dharampal, some children were spotted tearing the pages of the holy books. He lauded the residents for maintaining peace and calm. The state had witnessed days of protests and communal tensions last month after incidents of desecration were reported from several parts of the state. The agitation intensified in some parts after two protesters were killed in police firing in Faridkot district on October 14.
