Two Teenagers Caught Playing Blue Whale Challenge, Sent For Counselling

Bengaluru : Two teenagers in Bangalore, aged 18 and 19, were caught playing the Blue Whale Challenge in city’s well-known college. These boys, who are second-year commerce students, are currently undergoing counselling so that they won’t play the deadly game further. These boys were caught by their college teachers when one of these boys entered the classroom late and had injuries on his left wrist.
The boy also showed the counsellor a picture of his injured wrist to the Blue Whale Challenge curator. When the Bangalore police investigated the matter, they found the boy’s Whatsapp status read ’I’m on the way’. His profile picture was also of a blue whale.
Rani Shetty, head of Vanitha Sahayavani, said that his profile picture and Whatsapp display picture raised doubts among his classmates and they informed the college principal. Upon receiving the information, the college staff informed the police. The 18-year-old boy told the counsellor that he was afraid to do the third task of the blue whale challenge that asked him to climb the terrace of a tall building in Bengaluru during the early hours and record it on the phone.
The curator told him that the task would be completed when he will send this recording to the administrator to enter the next level of the game. Also, the 19-year-old boy, who received the game’s link via social media through some gaming circuit, told the counsellor that he was too frightened to continue this game. Along with these boys, even their families were given counselling about the effects of the game.
