UK’s role in Op Bluestar needs to be probed: MP

Raipur (Jalandhar) : British MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi said here today that the then UK Government’s role in Operation Bluestar needed to be probed.
“Thanks to the documentary evidence from various sources, including British researcher Phil Miller’s work, it has been proved beyond doubt that the Conservative government was involved in the 1984 operation. However, the extent of support given to the Indian Government needs to be ascertained,” the Labour MP said during a visit to his native village, Raipur, on the outskirts of the city.
Speaking to The Tribune, Dhesi said his party was pressing the Theresa May government for a probe, but was not getting a response. “A delay in starting an investigation will upset the Sikh community,” he said. On the demand for Khalistan by UK-based Sikh organisations, Dhesi said the families affected by terrorism had the right to voice their opinion. Earlier, Dhesi, his father Jaspal Singh Dhesi, mother Dalvinder Kaur Dhesi, wife Manveer and two sons were welcomed by the villagers. Rose petals were showered on them and people danced to dhol beats.
